Social Issue: Crime Blog Post #6

Article Related to Social Issue:
Why I chose this article?
I chose this article because it was an article which represented the social issue in my novel and it related to my book perfectly. In addition, this article talked about a different type of crime, which was a hate crime. A hate crime is a violent hate on someone’s racial, sexual or other prejudices. In this article, it talked about a transgender woman who was pushed to the train tracks by a man because she was transgender. As a result, this story represented an easy understanding of a hate crime and that’s why I chose it.
How this article relates to my book and social issue?
This article relates to the social issue in my novel because this article shows a different type of crime, which is a hate crime. In my novel there were a few scenarios where there were hate crimes. For example, Duncan was hating on Wayne because of who he is. Duncan didn’t invite Wayne to help him find the serial killer in the book and the main reason behind that was because he was hating on Wayne. Therefore, there was hate crime in my novel and in the article.
The article relates to my book because in my book, the last scene took place in a train station. Duncan found out who the killer was and the killer chased Duncan to the train station where Duncan was thrown on to the train tracks and almost killed. In relation to the article, the man pushed the woman off the tracks, like Duncan was pushed by the serial killer.
Photograph relating to Social Issue
This photograph represents a campaign poster against hate crime. As it is seen, the campaign is offering you to take action on hate crime, which is a start to end the social issue of crime. This poster is very effective because in two or three words it tells you what a hate crime is. For instance, by the words on the bottom, you can tell that a hate crime is a crime against gender, religion and disability. Therefore, it is informing many of hate crimes and getting people to join them in solving it.
